So you’d like to apply to Ryburn Sixth? Great! Here’s what to expect.
We welcome applications from Ryburn Valley High School students and those from other high schools. The application process is slightly different in each case - but very straightforward.
What’s the same is the bespoke attention we give each prospective student. Our interviews are a chance to get to know you, but also to ensure that your choice of courses are right for you and give you the very best chance of success.

How to enrol - as a current Ryburn student
Students at Ryburn Valley High School get plenty of support in deciding which post-16 options are right for them, including Ryburn Sixth. A key event in this timeline is our taster day in February, when students interested in a Ryburn Sixth place get to ‘try out’ lessons in their choice of subjects.
Our Ryburn Sixth staff and our in school C&K Careers Advisors are always willing to speak to you to answer your questions and help you plan for your future. Get in touch to make an appointment. We’ll support you in making your application in school, or you can apply online.
How to enrol - As a student from another high school
If you’re new to Ryburn and interested in joining our sixth form, the first thing to do is to get in touch. You’ll obviously want to get to know what we’re all about, so take advantage of our virtual Open Evening and request a small group tour.
Applications are made via our online form, and all students are interviewed for a place.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Ryburn Sixth offers a wide range of courses, and welcomes students of different abilities, and we are keen to ensure that you choose courses in which you can succeed. Certain subjects have specific requirements.
What can I study?
There are a wide range of A-Level and vocational courses available to study at Ryburn Sixth. With over 35 to choose between and flexible combinations, we’re sure we can tailor a choice to suit you. Most students choose three A-levels or equivalent courses. For those who achieve highly at GCSE, there is the opportunity to study four subjects.
