At Ryburn Sixth

Choose Ryburn Sixth, Sowerby Bridge for your course in Media Studies, created to help you learn from contemporary media.

Media play a huge part in society and contemporary culture, they shape our perceptions of the world through the representations, ideas and points of view they offer. The study of such representation is key in our society so that we can learn to further develop an awareness of emerging and evolving media, as media provide us with ways to communicate and forms of expression.

Our excellent teachers aim to help you gain and develop skills such as debates, critical exploration, reflection and analysis. Although the main focus for the qualification is on contemporary media, students will also have the opportunity to study in further depth as we learn about historical contexts and through practical work, students can also develop media production skills in different forms.
